📏 How to Select the Right Bracket Size & Shade Size

Choosing the right bracket and shade size is crucial so the extension fits well and performs correctly. Here’s how to decide:

What to Check

How to Measure / Decide

T-top tubing diameter

Use a caliper or precise tape measure to measure the outer diameter of your T-top’s horizontal tubing. The kit supports 0.875" up to 2.5" — pick the bracket size accordingly. The brackets are adjustable vertically and horizontally and can be placed virtually anywhere along the round console tubing.

Boat width & coverage area

All Sunshades are 78" long. Select the appropriate width that matches the width of your T-Top or Console top. Our Material has up to 25% stretch to accomodate a range of sizes.

  1. Mount the brackets to the T-top

Wrap each bracket around the tubing and tighten securely, using the provided m6 socket head cap screws.

  1. Attach the pole cylinder

Attach the pole cylinder to the mounting bracket. Each small hole on the bracket indicates a point of adjustment. Point the cylinder in the approximate direction you want the poles to face

  1. Insert the telescoping poles

Slide one carbon-fiber pole into each bracket’s receiver tube. Begin with the poles in their collapsed state (36″).

  1. Attach the sunshade to the T-top (front edge)

With the poles in place, position the shade so the front edge aligns with the forward edge of your T-top or frame. Secure the shade to the T-top — typically using built-in straps, buckles, or fasteners included with the shade (depending on your shade version).

  1. Extend the poles and tension the shade

Extend both telescoping poles until the shade is tensioned. We recommend up to approximately 25% of the unstretched length. This pulls the rear edge of the shade taut, creating a clean, even canopy. Make sure the canvas is smooth and evenly tensioned across the width.

  2. Final check

    • Ensure the brackets are tight, with no movement on the T-top tubing

    • Poles seated fully and locked in place

    • Shade front is properly secured to T-top

    • Shade rear is secured to poles with even tension

    • Canvas is smooth, not wrinkled or sagging
